Establishment Survey

The Establishment Survey is a large-scale questionnaire survey using face-to-face interviews, conducted annually at the areas covered by the people meter system. The purposes of the Establishment Survey are:

1. To make population estimates for the areas covered by the people meter system.
2. To estimate the demographic characteristics of this population.
3. To monitor television-related equipment, and to observe the trends every year.
4. To define the parameters and characteristics of the people meter audience measurement.
5. To create a reservoir of households, from which new panelists are recruited.
6. To examine and study trends in television viewing habits and behaviors.
